Voting, Then "The Grudge", Followed by Snowing, Then, Finally the In-Laws

Rachel and I took advantage of early voting at the County Election Office on Tuesday, fulfilling our moral obligation and most sacred right (yeah, ok). Still, it was very exciting to do for the first time. The ballots were very straight forward with only a simple filling in of a bubble with a big black marker being the only instructions. Rachel and I did joke, however about how many times we stared at the the ballot once we were finished to make sure we didn't accidentally vote for Bush. It's good to get out of the way and now we just have to wait and see the results.

Yesterday, Bryan, Colleen, Rachel and I went to dinner at my old stomping grounds, Ruby Tuesday and then we went to go see "The Grudge" as part of a tradition of seeing a scary movie for Bryan's birthday. I was really excited to see this movie. Perhaps the first mistake was going into the movie using "The Ring" as the standard. First off, let me say, this movie was intense throughout and never gave you more than five minutes to relax before they scared they bejesus out of you again. After the movie, we were forced to analyze the plot and character development, both areas where this movie lacked. It was way too straightforward and didn't provide and real twists or surprises. You are never really able to put yourself in the characters position and that's where good scary movies shine. Anyway, if you are looking for a good scare, go see this movie but don't expect to be blown away.

When I looked out the window this morning I was extremely disappointed. At 8:00am, there was already about 4 inches of snow on the ground with no signs of slowing up. I took the time to take some pictures of the even but I will have to post them later this afternoon from home. The only thing that was exciting was the possibility of school being cancelled but there was no such luck. At NAU, we have a snow line that you can call to find out whether or not classes are cancelled so, as you can imagine, I was calling it every 10 minutes. The snow is suppose to stop tonight and with a couple days of clear skies, hopefully it will melt soon.

Rachel's family is coming to Flagstaff to visit this weekend, taking advantage of Nevada Day (the last Friday in October). I don't think there are any specific plans but it will be nice to see everyone. Rachel and I were however, invited to a Sociology Halloween party and I here those can be pretty rockin', especially when they are being promoted by a forty year old woman talking about getting to drunk to drive home.

Also, I am sure you have already noticed some additional links to my collection to the left. The Surprise! link in particular is where I will try to post interesting pictures article or events. I'll put it this way, if I see or hear something surprising and want to share it with you, it'll be there.
