flagstaff the new hollywood?

Flagstaff has a celebrity. Check out this excerpt from Tim Salmon's blog:

I haven't played in three days. Yesterday, we were rained out. The day before that the team played in Tucson. And today, we were off. It's spring break, so I took my family to our cabin in Flagstaff.

It's snowing. I took the kids sledding, and we had snowball fights. It's very weird to be doing that in spring training. I did great in the snowball fights. Fortunately, my surgically repaired shoulder is my left one, not my throwing shoulder. So I lobbed a few grenades at the kids. I'm sure they'd like to stay here all week, but I have to get back and play tomorrow.

Yes.

moment of zen

Being a Mets fan just got cooler. While sifting through the many Mets blogs I read daily, this one had a link to a new radio commercial for the Mets narrated by Jon Stewart, apparent lifetime Mets fan.

In addition, The blogger went on to describe his experience running into Stewart at the Bronx Zoo:

I had the pleasure of meeting Jon Stewart this past December at the Bronx Zoo(not the ballpark but the place with the other wild animals) As my kids were waiting to go on the carousel, Stewart, his wife and baby were posing for pictures with some of the staff. Of course the wise ass as I am, I yelled over to him and said "Yo , Jon move it along" He came over to me and said, "I was ready to tell you off, but I saw your Mets jacket and since we both like the same team I let you slide" All the while he was laughing. While we waited for the kids to ride the carousel, I got to talk to him and found him a really nice guy. He has been a Mets fan his whole life and has enjoyed going to Shea since he was a kid. I told him how much I love The Daily Show and he told me he had another big gig coming up but couldn't talk about it (a couple of weeks later he was named to host the Oscars) He was looking forward to the Mets season.

I'm dreamin' of a white...spring break?

Rachel and I considered ourselves lucky to avoid snow this winter. It has made a stressful last semester a little more bearable. Apparently, the weather decided to dump all the snow lacking throughout the winter this weekend. Rachel and I have not stepped out of the house since Friday night and there is no sign that we will be able to leave today. Of course, tomorrow will probably be clear enough for school to be on which, canceling school is the only real benefit of heavy snowfall. According to weather.com, it feels like 1 degree outside. We were excited to to see how well our covered parking spot held up against the snow but apparently it doesn't protect against snow blowing sideways.

On top of everything I am sick. I have been since Thursday. It started with a sore throat and evolved into aching everywhere and a gross cough. The aching has subsided and my energy came back but the cough and sore throat remain. So, I am going a little stir crazy in our apartment and the idea of TV, movies, internet or Gamecube are no longer appealing. Wish we had Settlers of Catan.

Pictures below were taken from our patio this morning:
